Numbers given after the artists’ names are the Penguin and Signet book numbers.  In many cases a title would be reprinted several times using the same book number but exhibiting new cover art. Therefore, the same book number may be credited with having art by more than one artist.  Moreover, when Signet reprinted one of their editions the cover art on the earlier printing was often modified for use on the reprint.
